Dan Schneider’s “Zoey 101” was a smash-hit on Nickelodeon, resonating deeply with teen audiences everywhere. Central to the show was the classic “will they or won’t they?” relationship that Zoey Brooks and Chase Matthews watered for four straight seasons.
For the most part Chase and Zoey tiptoed around their feelings for each other, however by the series finale, “Zoey 101: Chasing Zoey,” they finally have their first kiss. It was a moment long in the making for loyal fans, and brought the series to a satisfying and heartwarming conclusion.
Perhaps the biggest mystery of the show is what Zoey said in the time capsule she buried on the second episode of the second season. I mean, really… what did she say?!
All fans knew was she talked about what each of her friends meant to her—but, again, audiences were forced to simply wonder about what she might’ve said without any promise of an answer.
Well, ten years later, fans finally got one!
Ten years later we find Chase proposing to an unknown girl (played wonderfully by Schneider’s Bakery casting director Jamie Snow, who you might remember guest starring on “Victorious” and “The Amanda Show”!) before Michael storms in and disrupts the festivities. Michael says he dug up Zoey’s time capsule, and reveals that Zoey thought Chase was her soulmate even back before anything happened between the two of them.
It was a remarkable segment since fans of the show never really received closure on what Zoey might’ve said in the time capsule. It was also so fun to see the characters again so far into the future! Congrats to the Schneider’s Bakery team for pulling off this amazing reunion, 10 years after the episodes aired!
